As the school year draws close to another ending, it is the beginning of the summer months of fun and frolic. Remember to make time to continue to read. Schooling may end but learning never does. An example is below – a quotation I found while reviewing for my classes and as I prepared for an recent presentation. I share it with you because it ties together many concepts: Education, a Principle from our karate training, a long view of Life and a continuing of a long – yet newly understood Vision.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
J.R.R. TOLKIEN
Remember the dojo schedule is the same throughout the summer months. Plan to attend classes and stay on top of your training, learning and improvement.

This event happens every two years. We have hosted the 1999 event and the 2007 event. Both have been the among largest Isshin-ryu competitions and gatherings held to date. Isshin-ryu Karate students from across the country and around the world will attend.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE RECIPE? One of the fund raising ideas is to create an Isshin-ryu Cook Book. Submit it to Hanshi Hughes and even order your personal cook book. Hopefully, we will have entries from around the world. The Cost will be just $10.00 and include at least 150 recipes ( appetizers, entrees, deserts & pastries ).
The sponsorship information for the event is available. See Hanshi if you may know the owner of a business that might benefit from the exposure on our dojo web site and in the Tournament Booklet.
THE DOJO WEB SITE IS NEARING THE 800,000 MARK. THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF INFROMATION AND THE PLACE TO VIEW TO LEARN ABOUT EVENTS, INFORMATION AND UPDATES. CHECK IT REGULARLY. http://www.isshin-ryu.com
We had our first meeting of parents, karate students and friends for the I.W.K.A. CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT. These are a few of the areas discussed.
